I liked the sea line
Everything looked so very used.
Quiet and relaxing place for a get away from the busy city life
Command of English among most of the staff is bad. Though they are friendly but they don't provide for a warmth feeling. Had to wait for long periods of time for things to be done without much explanation on status.
Room was good, clean, quiet, comfortable and had a beautiful view. Breakfast buffet (until 11 am) was excellent and offered great variety; cold, hot, healthy, not so healthy, freshly baked pancakes, eggs your way etc. Staff was generally very attentive - especially the lobby staff were excellent. Pool area was clean and relatively quiet. Drinks and lunch menu was served by the sunbeds throughout the day. Nice hotel for couples who want to relax, but probably not the best choice for those who are looking for a vibrant party atmosphere.
We sometimes felt that staff did not understand what we were asking. Particularly, there were some misunderstandings at the pool area, and we were not always served the food and drinks that we actually ordered. On our night of arrival, we were a bit disappointed that the only a la carte dinner option was western dishes (the grill)... The staff did recommend the Banyan Tree restaurants but when they found that they were all fully booked, they were not able to recommend any alternatives outside the resort.
Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Pool was very nice.
To be frank, it is a rip off from start to finish. The taxi / transport service is a monopoly. The quality of the accomodation is in my opinion below par for this part of the world. The hotel is not shy to over charge for food and beverages at every turn and apart from trying to visit one of the other hotels / resorts in the area (where I suspect you will discover the same situation), you are effectively feel trapped. In short the profiteering of the resort / hotel appeared to be the priority rather than leaving guests with a wonderful 'come back next time' experience ... I for one, wont be back.
Very nice beach and friendly staff.
The most expensive coca zero of my life. I ordered a can of coca zero at the strandbar and it costs 7 us dollar!!! And a little bottle of water (.5l) 6 us dollar...! The beverage prices are a rip off. The mean thing is that you cannot avoid it because you stuck in the resort and there are no shops around to buy a big bottle of water or other drinks. As you can imagine, one can get very thirsty lying on the beach, 36 degrees celsius....
The spa was awesome, as expected from a Banyan Tree operations. Service at reception upon checking in by Yvonne was great as she was responsive and listening to our needs.
1) The rooms were old and similar to chalets in SIngapore which cost $100 per night at east coast or downtown east. 2) The service staffs provided inconsistent service level. Was at the bar by the pool at 5.30pm when my friend and i was awfully hungry as we missed lunch. Wanted to order snacks or finger food but waiter said it is not possible, even when we enquire on ordering from the lotus cafe, he was against the idea. COmpletely no solution and thought for our well being inspite of us repeatedly sharing we are really hungry. 3) Food quality is low for the prices charged. Had BBQ on friday night and seafood was not fresh. Prawns were soft and so were some of the cray fish.
it's close to singapore
the food and beverages were very disappointing.
The location, setting and grounds were lovely and very appealing. The friendlyness of the staff and their postive and attentive manner were sincere and genuine, yet not overdone. The ability to use the Angsana and Banyan Tree facilities was seamless and gave us added flexibility and options. We are looking forward to a return visit in the near future.
The location. The beach and pool were gorgeous. The staff was extremely friendly and I loved the little gifts that were left each evening at the turn down service.
I wish that the hotel had other restaurants. It was nice that we were able to eat at the Banyan Tree restaurants, but it would have been nice to dine at our own hotel.
Easy access from Singapore, only 55 mins ferry ride. You can arrange for the hotel to pick you up and that takes about 15 mins car drive. Also the staff are very friendly and respond to requests very quickly. The set up is good, right by the beach, very nice pool, the spa is brilliant with lots of options, the pantai grill restaurant by the beach is great, BBQ was good eating with the sea breeze and sound of the waves, the food at the Lotus cafe was good too and the buffet breakfast really good with lots of choices. They have many options of alternative dining, eg. dinner on the rocks, picnic at the beach. You also have access to the Bayan Tree restaurants next door which widens your options. Finally, the hotel organised and collected our ferry boarding passes so we didn't need to go 1 1/2 hours before departure to the ferry terminal and that gave us extra time at the beach which was an added bonus.
It could do with a facelift, the pictures make the rooms look more luxurious and fresher looking than they are. They seem to have a problem with the beach getting black tar from the ships, the kids got it in their feet which you then need to rub out with oil or lots of soap. My 15 month old's skin around his toes peeled off -it wasn't painful- and I don't know if that might have had something to do with it. The whole weekend was a bit expensive, food and wine very expensive, all in US$.
We went to the Angsana to celerate our 20th Wedding Anniversary and, upon telling the hotel the reason for our stay, they upgrated us to a Sea View Room and provided us with a cake to help us celebrate, which was a wonderful surprise. They decorated our bed with flowers and generally made us feel very special. The staff were all absolutely fantastic - always friendly, relaxed and inviting, and they are certainly a credit to the hotel. Our room was lovely - very clean and, being on the 4th floor, we had wonderful views of the pool area, restaurant, beach and the South China Sea. The bed was awesome - super comfortable after a hard day relaxing! The TV reception was average, but with the views on hand there was really no need to watch TV very often! The food in the Lotus Restaurant was wonderful and I recommend the shared satay starter - magic! We went to the Beach BBQ one night but were not very impressed - although the setting was lovely it was a bit windy and the food was cold before it got to your plate. We ended up leaving the beach and going back to the Lotus for our meal, where the staff could not have accommodated us better. The breakfast buffet provided a good selection and the food was (again) very good. The resort was generally very clean - the pool area was fab and the grounds were very well kept and well signposted. This was a lovely resort to go for relaxation and just to get away from it all and I would highly recommend it to family and friends. We would certainly stay here agin if the opportunity arises.
Arrived at 1.00 o'clock to check in to our pre-booked seaview deluxe room, was told check in was at 3.00 and no seaview rooms were available but would have a room with pool view and staff would notify us when ready. Come 6.00 o'clock no word from staff so went to front desk, checked in to our no view room. Complained to front desk and was told no rooms available with pool view as hotel was full, complained to front desk manager who told us we could down grade the room but no refund in price, escalated to his manager who confirmed no rooms available, but we could refund the difference to be downgraded. Eventually spoke to resort manager who did go out of his way to help us out, should not have required this. Room was adequate although very dated and certainly not worth the 270 USD a night. Hotel is very run down, front desk staff not helpful at all. I would not recommend this hotel for the price. Should be closer to 100 usd a night at a push.
Nice hotel ,I enjoy it beautiful sea view.In hotel nice services.i enjoy my holidays .Quite expensive but not bad
When we complained about rampant model and showed confirmation of ocean room, they made us wait all day but at least moved us.
This place is horrible! Total waste of money. I spent 1,400usd for 3 days with mediocre meals. Massive mold, hairs in bath. Ick! I cannot believe I wasted this on a per holiday relax. Be warned of this hotel.
Great service, very friendly staff and a remote beachfront location. We stayed for four nights and never left the resort - exactly what we wanted. Very good for families, but enough space that it never felt crowded even though they were fully booked for nye.
Very remote, so be prepared to pay resort prices for everything. There's a shuttle to the nearest shop a few times a day, but it'll take a few hours out of the day.
